Hey everyone! I'm a newby here. I searched high and low for a way to jailbreak my iPT (iPod Touch) so that it could make calls as if it were a cellphone. It seems to work fine so far. I haven't bought a mic yet, but I guess all I can do for now is hear... if I use the Apple earphones; I dunno, for I haven't even done that yet either. I plan to get the mic from Touchmods ASAP.

Anyway, I got a number for my iPT from IP-Kall, which of course is a long distance number, so I suppose that means that even if someone lives across the street from me and he/she calls from either their cell or landline, they'll be charged long distance for the calling my iPT? It wouldn't really matter much `cos I can call people and save them the bill, or they can call me and hang up letting me know for me to call back. It would just be cooler if they didn't get charged.

Would you believe all the skeptics there are around when you tell them that you have or can make your iPT make phonecalls? I told some friends, and they all laughed. I said I believe it can be done, so I'll give it a try... (more laughing). I set it up within 15 minutes, told them that if the phone rings, I won't be able to talk, so don't hang up. After that, they all were like: "How did you do that" and "Surely it won't be free for too much longer. If everyone does it, cellular corps will lose money, so therefore somehow they will find a way to charge."

Others that say they know it can be done, say that it is not free, that it gets charged to our ISP since we have to download the software and install it into our computers. Beats me, I dunno. But I don't chat much. I hate paying for phone service when I probably only talk 15 minutes a week on average. Usually you won't see me on the phone at all for a couple months, so I hope it's free.

Well, that was question number one. Number two is... how do I set a desktop background behind the icons? It was easier to set the phone on my iPT than it's been to get a background... which I haven't been able to do yet. If anyone can give me the "best way to do it tip", that would be great! Thanks in advance! :)

Is everyone gone? I'd really like to know if people get charged for calling my iPod Touch from their landlines since my iPt's phone number is a 360 area code. Anyone know? I get the feeling is yes.

1st of all, u can use ur ipod touch to make phone calls through 3rd party apps such as skype, yahoo messenger and whistle etc... and yes it's possible, some of those may require u to buy credit from them to use on ur calls and some will only require that the one ur calling would be having same app so that u both can talk for free
as far as 2nd question , go to settings, wallpaper then choose the one u like for lockscreen and also for the phone background

Phone calls really aren't that great on an iPod. Just use a normal cellphone.
